ABOUT US
Murray Road Church of Christ
We are a group of individuals with a simple goal to mutually seek the upward call of God in Jesus Christ. We see the beauty and complexity of this world and are convinced it is the result of an intelligent mind which created us for a purpose. We believe there is more to this life than pursuits of happiness, wealth building, or satisfying personal pleasures. We believe we are called for a greater service – something which extends beyond our individual lives. Our various experiences have all brought us to the same conclusion – our purpose is to glorify God our Creator through holy living, serving the needs of others, and sharing the powerful message of God’s saving grace in Jesus Christ.
We are not perfect people. We deal with the same struggles and short-comings as everyone else. We make mistakes – sometimes the same mistake multiple times. We laugh, we cry, we get angry, and we get confused. In all this, we remain committed to serving God. While we recognize our mistakes, we don’t try to justify them. Instead, we are committed to allowing the power and grace of God to transform our lives into something better than we could ever achieve on our own. We encourage others to do the same – including you.
We are committed to being a family. As such, we deeply care for each of the members of this family. Over time we come to know each other’s careers, physical families, hobbies, talents, strengths, and struggles. We constantly encourage each other to love and do good works for our Father in heaven. We come to each other’s aid in times of need and seek out the needs of others before we seek out the needs of ourselves. We are more than observers of each other’s lives. We are companions and friends.
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is the only source of the words of life which will guide us to eternity. This means we are committed to the simplicity of the good news of salvation as it was first taught by Jesus and his initial followers. This simplicity extends to the teachings, practices, and beliefs of those who accepted the gospel nearly two thousand years ago. We seek to have the same teachings, practices, and beliefs because we are convinced the message of Christ and the Church which He established in those days cannot be improved upon, despite our good intentions. While societies change over time, the deep internal needs we have remain the same from generation to generation. We believe God has not changed, nor has his message changed since the early days of church. As such, we see no need to change the message of God over time.
Our family assembles to meet three times a week. The purpose of these assemblies is to glorify God and His Son Jesus Christ, to increase our understanding of the Bible, and to encourage each other in our lives. Our assemblies consist of singing, prayers, reading and studying God’s Word, and remember the death of Jesus Christ our Lord. Each of these components is based upon instructions and guidance found within the pages of the New Testament. These assemblies are important components in our service to God. During these assemblies we constantly remind each other to remain focused on the grace and service of God and not be distracted by things in this world which would draw us away from receiving the upward call of God. These assemblies help ground us in the hope of Jesus’s return when we will put aside this life of struggles for something much greater which will endure through eternity.
There are so many more things that we could share about our congregation. We invite you to come visit us and ask about the hope within each person. We invite you to come visit our assemblies and learn about God and his powerful message of grace, hope, and peace to humanity. This world is filled with volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. We have found an anchor for our souls during these times and invite you to come. Come seek the Lord with us. Come enjoy the riches of his mercy and grace. Come find peace with the Lord and forgiveness of sins. Come share the Lord.
